Great hike and even greater experience. It's about a 3 hour hike to the peak and a great view of St. Lucia in the distance and other islands on a clear day. It gets pretty cold up there so pack smart when going.

Tips:
-The crater is huge and there is a steep drop off, once nearing the top, be cautious and hold on to children.
-Wear sunblock and carry some to reapply. Wear a hat if you have one.
-Carry lots of water (you will need it). You will need snacks/lunch as well.
-Stay with your tour guide. You don't want to be lost up there when it gets dark.
-Spray bug repellant on you before you journey up and before you journey down the mountain.
-Take a camera, you want to capture the beauty of the volcano and the scenery from above as no one would believe you climbed 4000+ feet.
-If going on the windward side, plan to stop in Rabacca at the dry river. It has really nice picnic areas now. I remember when there wasn't a bridge and you had to walk through the river bed.
-If you have time, visit Salt pond in Owia. Another phenomenon of nature.
-Also, if possible, stop in the villages along the coast as you journey south. Georgetown use to be the capital city years ago, it has a rich history, Canarie and Calliaqua has a good fishing reputation, Biabou has old historic churches, Yambou and Mespo is know for farming, etc...

A active but dormant volcano that presents a challenging climb but is worth it for the beautiful views.
