Many of you joined Ketchikan Museums in early 2017 for community conversations helping us plan the Tongass Historical Museum’s new permanent exhibit and uncovering some of the common threads of Ketchikan’s unique history and identity. We had you brainstorm what “Ketchikan is…” (remember all those post-it notes?), and one of the responses we got was “water in abundance makes us fearless” by Mary Ida Henrikson. We thought that was an incredibly strong statement and one with man...y, many facets. We liked it so much we even used it as a title for a section of the new permanent exhibit! . ........................................ ........................................ ........................................ ................
Now Ketchikan Museums invites YOU to show us what “water in abundance makes us fearless” means to you. . ........................................ ........................................ ........................................ ................
Email your “water in abundance makes us fearless” photos to marnir@ktn-ak.us to be shared and we’ll post them on social media, with a lucky few chosen to be printed and displayed at the Tongass Historical Museum!

Happy National Doughnut Day!

... Anyone else curious about the Glo-Coat tins in the foreground? We did a little digging and it turns out Glo-Coat was floor polish wax... but the mystery of the floor polish sold in the doughnut shop remains. Check out this old ad for Glo-Coat: h ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvB_iBa4U t8
