A far, far, far cry from its predecessor in Paris. Parking and wine selection are issues but many of the musicians are extremely talented. When they first opened, I was lucky to show up on a Wednesday when many of Miami's well-respected musicians (and some unknown) sat around, drank for free and just jammed whenever the stage was available. I should caution you that the owner/manager is extremely serious and abrasive about the audience listening to the musicians. Be prepared to be treated rudely and told that if you want to chit-chat you need to go to Calle 8 or Brickell. If you like to go to bars to talk and laugh (as most folks do after a long week), THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. You either sit, drink, eat Cuban food and shut up, or you eat elsewhere first, get all the talking amongst friends out of your system, drink good wine, and THEN go and listen to music at the Black Cat. Cover is now $10. Which is very reasonable if you are going to be told to shut the heck up and focus on the music. What you do if the music sucks, well, that is entirely up to you. For just $10 bucks, it may be worth it to order a coke and then leave if you do not like the music. If you do, then you need to be very quiet. In that case, it is good for an hour or so. Try it but be prepared.

Well hidden piece of New York Jazz underground venue. Cozy, romantic and live jazz is of quality. Prices imported from NY as well. Atmosphere was missing something, not sure what. It felt empty for a Friday night. I will be back for more .
