Not a great experience. No on site dump station or sewers!! The park will send you to the local sewage treatment plant to dump your tanks. Expect a less than welcoming experience at the sewage treatment plant, bring a long dump hose, and dont show up after 4pm or you will be told to leave. Large rig, have a toad? Then your probably not dumping without at least unhooking your tow vehicle. Once your finished with that you can go park your rig in a parking lot, about 5 feet from your neighbor, on a less-than-level surface. No tables, no fires, no awnings....No fun. You do get a decent view, not worth it though.

No stars at all would be better. This place is terrible. I booked through Reserve America. They show a map with a green camping area - to me, that meant grass. I've never been there before, so how would I know. There are also no accurate descriptions about the sites available.
When we pulled in, it looked nice - grassy areas where people were set up and a nice man greeting us at the gate. He had someone escort us to our parking spot for the evening. Yes, it was a parking spot next to an old building. No picnic table, and for obvious reasons no fire ring. My family of 4 was traveling in a VW camper, so we depend on being able to unload some things from the van and then we go explore. First, there was no room to unload anything as we were in a parking spot. Second, it's a public parking lot, I didn't feel secure leaving anything behind. My wife went to the bath house and said it was disgusting at best. We'd been traveling for 9 days in the van at this point, so we've seen our share of campgrounds on this trip. I'm sure if it weren't a parking lot, had clean bathrooms and was less of a tailgating experience, it'd be a nice place. Unless you are self contained and don't have anything to put outside, don't bother. Needless to say we didn't stay the night and opted for a hotel instead.

My rating of 5 stars applies to only 2 tent sites: 26 & 27. They overlook the harbor and have a bit of privacy. The other tent sites have no privacy and/or are a hike to the bathrooms. The RV sites are, as described in other reviews, essentially a parking lot. If you can overlook that, the campground as a whole is incredibly scenic, is convenient to Salem as well as Boston (in season, a ferry runs from downtown Salem to the park), and is a find.
